Chablis Wine
The Aristocratic
Premier Cru
Located on a steep hillside overlooking the Serein Valley, Côte de Léchet is one of the most emblematic terroirs of Domaine Daniel-Étienne Defaix in Chablis. On these rugged slopes, the vines sink their roots deep into Jurassic limestone, revealing the finesse, tension and minerality that have earned Chablis Premiers Crus their worldwide reputation.
An Exceptional Terroir
Côte de Léchet rests on Kimmeridgian subsoil, composed of clay-limestone marl rich in marine fossils. The pronounced slope (up to 45%) and ideal exposure allow the grapes to achieve perfect ripeness while maintaining superb freshness. The shallow, stony and demanding soil imparts an intense minerality — the true signature of this cru.
The estate cultivates around 3.5 hectares of vines here, averaging 45 years of age, farmed without herbicides or chemical fertilizers to preserve the natural balance of the soil as much as possible.
