A floral, silky and mineral Chablis Grand Cru.

Chablis Wine

The Grand Cru
by Excellence

Perched on a south-east–facing slope in Chablis, Blanchot is one of the prestigious Grands Crus of Domaine Daniel-Étienne Defaix. This cuvée captures the subtle balance between aromatic finesse, silky texture and crystalline minerality. Raised with patience and deep respect for the terroir, Blanchot reveals the unique character of Kimmeridgian limestone as expressed through Chardonnay.

Soils, Exposure & Terroir

Blanchot is one of the seven climats classified as a Grand Cru in Chablis. The Defaix estate cultivates this parcel as part of its longstanding family heritage, carrying on a tradition of slow, attentive winemaking.

La vigne de Blanchot s’enracine dans The Blanchot vines grow in Kimmeridgian marl—a clay-limestone soil from the Upper Jurassic, rich in marine fossils (oysters), emblematic of Chablis’ finest terroirs. This south-east exposure provides generous morning sunlight, helping the grapes reach balanced maturity while preserving freshness. The soil, known for being permeable, stony and well-drained, encourages the roots to dig deep in search of minerals and energy.
